Wilkes-Barre Racing - Racing for a Home

Run For The Kids

Wilkes Barre Racing is proud to announce our “Run for the Kids” program. The program allows athletes to receive an entry fee waiver if they raise money for Wilkes Barre Racing adoption programs. Beginning in 2013 with the Harvey’s Lake Run, any athlete who raises $75 for foster care and adoption races for free. You still get the tech shirt, free pancake breakfast, and free CrossFit kids. If you’re a season pass holder and you raise $60 we will reimburse you the race entry fee!

Why are we doing this? Because Wilkes Barre Racing wants athletes to know that the money we raise helps our local foster children and orphans. Wilkes Barre Racing DOES NOT send the money from your race fees to another state or country. We do not pay for celebrity endorsements. We keep the money in NEPA. And we are proud of our accomplishments including:

- Wilkes Barre Racing Executive Director Rich Pais receiving the 2012 Philanthropy Recognition Award from the Department of Public Welfare in recognition of the work accomplished for foster and adopted Children in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

- Wilkes Barre Racing providing over 100 prizes and gifts  to foster kids including free bicycles  and tickets the circus, Penguin hockey games, minor league baseball games, and other athletic and entertainment events.

- Wilkes Barre Racing paying the entry fee for any foster child to race in any event anywhere in Pennsylvania. We believe no child should be denied the opportunity to compete because of his family circumstances.

- Wilkes Barre Racing raising local awareness of foster care and adoption through its groundbreaking radio spots featuring the stories of adoption from the perspective of the moms, dads, kids and counselors who make the miracle of adoption a reality for hundreds of kids in our valley every year.

- Wilkes Barre Racing producing the “Child of the Week” each Wednesday in the Citizens Voice and Scranton Times Tribune. Over 60 children who need a home have been featured and dozens of these precious children now reside in forever homes..

We are well aware that other races want you raise money AND pay the race fee. Wilkes Barre Racing knows we live in difficult economic times and we would never ask for a donation without giving you something back.

So why not help a child get adopted today? It’s easy. Just download the simple paper form. Hit up your friends, family, and coworkers. Bring cash and checks (payable to Wilkes Barre Racing) to the registration table at Grotto’s and you are in!
