Wendy's Wonderful Kids Half Marathon Weekend
 Wendy's Wonderful Kids Half Marathon 2010Welcome to the 3rd annual Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Half Marathon Weekend on the beautiful River Commons in downtown Wilkes Barre. This is your family’s race! The events start on Friday afternoon with the race expo, live music, and great food outdoors on the banks of the Susquehanna River. We will have arts and crafts for kids, a bounce house and other fun games. For athletes we have three events on Friday night: The Harrold’s Pharmacy Walk for Adoption, the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Friday Night 5K run, and the OneSource River Street Mile.
Races
The OneSource River Street
The OneSource River Street mile is thrilling to watch or run. It is the final race in the Valley's Fastest Man Series and last year included several NCAA All-Americans and an Olympian from Argentina. This year look for finishing times of under 4:14.
The Friday Night 5k
The Friday Night 5k takes place on portions of the same flat, fast and shaded streets of Wilkes Barre that half marathon and 10 runners cover on Saturday morning. A wonderful evening prelude to a great day of racing.
The Harrold's Pharmacy Walk Home
The Harrold's Pharmacy Walk Home is a special event free to all foster and adopted families. The walk celebrates the people who opened their hearts and homes to orphans in NEPA. Following the walk a very special awards ceremony with personal adoption testimonies will help conclude the evening.
The Wendy's Wonderful Kids Half Marathon and 10K
 Wendy's Wonderful Kids Half Marathon 2010The Wendy's Wonderful Kids Half Marathon and 10K run starts Saturday morning at the River Commons. The fast, flat, shaded two loop course passes by family and spectators three times. You will pass four aid stations twice. Stations are stocked with Gatorade, water, ice and gels. There will be live bands and cheerleaders on course to inspire you. One loop is a 10K. Two loops (with a little extra out-and-back) is the half marathon. This course is fast and you can see your competition often. Expect a PR.
Bring the kids and enroll them in free CrossFit Kids during the race. Spectators enjoy a special gymnastics demonstration, free pancake breakfast, Zumba classes, yoga classes, and a float on the Susquehanna River!
Proceeds from the Wendy's Wonderful Kids Half Marathon go to support foster care and adoption in NEPA.
