Race 2 – Seven Tubs Nature Area, Wilkes-Barre
June 7, 2014
The race starts at 10:00am with on-site registration beginning at 9:00am. Follow the Xterra signs from the park entrance to registration and the start finish area.
The "Seven Tubs" are natural cascades and bowls formed in solid rock from flowing water. The trails at the Tubs well marked, steep and extremely challenging. There are two very steep 300 foot vertical climbs. The second occurs after a deep stream crossing and is within a half mile of the finish. The middle section of the course rolls downhill beside a broad, noisy and cascading stream. Here you can choose the best route through the hemlocks and shifting angle of the ground beneath your feet.
Because the distance is "only" 3-miles It can be a great entry level event. However, to do well at the Tubs you must sprint over obstacles that you may normally walk or jog over in longer races. The athletes with the most speed, agility, stamina and fitness win this race. Many runners consider this the most challenging and fun event in the series.
